Importing 4 channels of audio

Using the Cannon XF-705. It records 4 channels of audio. My video clip once imported into Bogart seems to only have channel 3 and 4. Channel 1 was a shotgun mic and channel 2 was a lav mic. 3 and 4 are the built in mic on the camera. How do import all of them with the SD card? When I play the clip back in camera I can hear the mics on my headphones. Thanks!

Importing all audio tracks of such camcorders is on the wish-list for BogartSE (13).

Workaround for the moment:
  • Register for the MacroSystem Compoesy Beta-Test: http://macromotion.info/compoesy
  • Import the scenes into the Compoesy editing software - automatically with all audio tracks combined to stereo
  • Multi-Select the scenes in the Compoesy Scene Bin
  • Use the right mouse button on any selected scene and the "Send to Bogart" function
  • Then, all scenes will be transferred to BogartSE with all the audio tracks as stereo signal
BogartSE and Compoesy need to run at the same time and the project format must match. :P

Can you send a new activation code? The one you sent me isn't working. I've got the program installed just can't activate it. Thanks.

  • You don't need an activation code for the transfer between Compoesy<>BogartSE
  • All license codes have to be requested here, by entering the serial number of the Compoesy software

To be clear, I can change the way the audio is recorded, so that Bogart can import it. I'll be testing that next. If the test fails I'll respond here. This camera is brand new to me. Before buying I didn't notice it could record 4 channels of audio at the same time. Bonus! Camera manufacturer's are rarely in synch with editing software developers. Am I right?

According to the XF-705 manual, the recording is also possible in MP4 format with 2-channel AAC audio (16 Bit, 48 KHz). That's the Bogart and Compoesy default audio quality.

This audio quality will also be the maximum for most supported output formats (streaming, Blu-ray, UHD-Disc..). So changing the camcorder setting to Advanced-Audio-Coding will be OK for 99% of all recordings. Image

The Compoesy activation code has been added here. Image

Update, I changed the audio settings in the camera so that Ch 1 and 2 were duplicated onto channel 3 and 4. Using the camera I can hear the separate channels and this corresponds with the audio levels on screen. When I import this into Bogart, it shows only channel 1 and 3 imported on the left and right. (Together not separated) Channel 1 and 3 is set to input 1, channels 2 and 4 set to input 2. As suggested, switching from XFAC to .mp4 format I do get separated left and right audio with inputs 1 and 2. It imports correctly. But I can't shoot in 4k using .mp4. It defaults to 1080p, 35 mbps.

I see... I was so concentrated on the audio part, that I did not read the text about this camera limitation.

For importing UHD, you will then need Compoesy and send the footage to BogartSE 12.
At the end of the year, Bogart 13 should be able to import the XF-AVC and XF-HEVC PCM audio directly. Image
